Power Partners Receives ISO 14001 Environmental Management Certifications for Its Transformer and Solar Water Heater Products

6/25/2009

ATHENS, GA, June 25, 2009 -- Power Partners, Inc. announced today that the transformers (www.powerpartners-usa.com) and solar water heaters (www.powerpartnerssolar.com) it produces have been certified as being in conformance with ISO 14001 international environmental management standards.

ISO 14001 is an international, voluntary environment management standard that links environmental information from formerly independent systems in all areas of operations and creates one system in which environmental performance is measured, controlled and improved. Benefits of such an environmental management system include cost reductions through continuous improvement and achieving the participation of the whole organization in being environmentally responsible.

Power Partners, whose mission for many years has been to make the best overhead distribution transformers on the market for the electric power industry, has recently expanded its focus to include the manufacture solar water heaters and ECO-MAX adsorption chillers (www.eco-maxchillers.com), which can substantially reduce operating costs by converting waste heat into cool air. Power Partners recently acquired the exclusive North American rights to begin manufacturing ECO-MAX adsorption chillers, and will soon seek ISO 14001 certification for this product as well.

Power Partners Solar water heaters have been featured on ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in the build of a LEED Platinum house designed and manufactured by Deltec Homes, and they are featured in a number of innovative commercial projects as well, including the LEED-certified Fire Engine Station #2 in Decatur, GA, and a guest residence at the famed John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC.

A story about Power Partners' collaboration with Georgia Tech's Enterprise Innovation Institute to examine its manufacturing processes and make environmentally responsible changes is featured at http://innovate.gatech.edu/Default.aspx?tabid=32&NewsID=218. The effort results in estimated energy savings of $600,000, reduction of water usage by 10,000 gallons daily, and the reduction of supply chain lead time from 17 days to less than a week.
