California Public Utilities Commission Verifies that Power Partners Is a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise
1/8/2003
ATHENS, GA, January 8, 2004 - The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has notified Power Powers Inc. that Power Partners has been added to the CPUC's Utility Supplier Diversity Program database. The notification follows the CPUC's verification that Power Partners has received national certification from the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a woman-owned business enterprise, or WBE.
Power Partners received its WBENC certification in December 2003, thereby enabling the manufacturer of electric transformers to participate in supplier diversity programs. The CPUC monitors supplier diversity certification programs and verifies when companies have received the required certifications to participate in their Utility Supplier Diversity Program.
Under General Order 156 issued by the California Public Utility Commission in 1988, specific diversity supplier procurement goals were established, including 5 percent for women-owned enterprises, 15 percent for minority-owned businesses and 1.5 percent for disabled veteran-owned enterprises.
