History
Power Partners' roots go back to 1958 when Westinghouse built a distribution transformer plant in Athens, Georgia. The Athens plant was purchased by ABB in 1990, and two Athens-based organizational consultants and entrepreneurs, Sherrie Ford and Steve Hollis, purchased the plant from ABB in 2003 and named the company Power Partners. Ford and Hollis are experts in lean manufacturing and in developing work cultures that are team-based, adaptable to change, and focused on continuous improvement. The 8 millionth transformer to have been made at the Athens facility was produced in 2008.
In 2008, Power Partners launched its Power Partners Solar product line. In 2009, it began producing adsorption chillers.
Ford and Hollis also own Change Partners, a consulting firm focused on creating successful work cultures, and Gap Partners, a manufacturer of precision sheet metal and machined parts that also provides mechanical assembly services.
